March 31, 2009
Hey Everyone,
All I can say is amazing! I just got home from Arizona and shot a music video for my first college video. Absolutely breathtaking shots in this video. The students should be very proud of themselves. I was so impressed. Read below for more info on that! Well my single is out on the radio and I couldn't be more excited and the video for "Jack Of Hearts" should be hitting soon as well. It's spicy! And PLEASE! request "Jack Of Hearts" to your local station:) It always helps. Hadn't said hello to everyone for awhile. I've been the traveling girl but loving this life. I feel like I'm really really living. I swear I've been everywhere over the last couple months. Very blessed with this whole opportunity...well I will catch all of you in Florida next time.

Sarah Darling

BLACK RIVER'S SARAH DARLING
WORKING WITH PROMINENT FILM SCHOOLS FOR VIDEO SERIES
First Shoot To Take Place In Scottsdale, AZ

NASHVILLE – March 24, 2009 – Black River Music Group recording artist Sarah Darling will be in Scottsdale, AZ this weekend to shoot the first in a series of online videos. Darling’s unique rollout to her upcoming album titled Every Monday Morning will include full length videos for several tracks on the album. Label head Jimmy Nichols decided to take an innovative approach to securing those videos. Since the videos will initially be premiered on Darling’s website and will build momentum virally, he thought it would be interesting to involve the creative energy of some of the top film schools in the country.
“Sarah’s songwriting creates such vivid images that we knew immediately upon finishing the album that we wanted to do a series of videos,” states Nichols. Although we are still going to shoot at least two, full-budget music videos to accompany Sarah’s singles, we also determined that we wanted to roll the project out one song at a time utilizing a viral marketing approach. It’s crucial to have images, along with the music, to tell the story that will build throughout the course of this year. We also knew that we needed just the right director to oversee it – Ryan Smith.”
Smith has worked with an impressive roster of talent. With nearly 100 music videos to his credit, he has helped launch the careers of such multi-platinum artists as Good Charlotte, Lostprophets, Bo Bice and many others.
Smith put the word out to numerous film schools around the country. Their film program is responsible for creating the video treatment and funding the production itself. Smith spends time at each school giving them direction and access to his experience. The label and Smith will choose a winning treatment and then travel to the school, along with Darling, for the actual shoot. Editing will also be handled by the film school.
Although many colleges and universities are vying for the chance to be a part of Darling’s project, only two have been selected at this point – Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, AZ and Full Sail in Orlando, FL.
Smith adds, “There is a lot of talent out there and a lot of really great film programs. I know that we are going to be able to access some of the best students in the field and utilize their knowledge and creativity to create some fantastic music videos for Sarah. I feel confident that it will be a wonderful exchange and that the students will have a perfect ‘real-life’ situation to use this project for their course.”
Darling’s debut single, “Jack Of Hearts” will be released this week, as will the Smith directed video, which was shot recently in Las Vegas. Her album Every Monday Morning is set for release on June 16, although it will be available digitally on April 28.
